Mission Aviation Training Centre at Teuge – NL offers complete flight training programs, from PPL, CPL, IR, NR, to FI and FIRC. We are a preferred supplier for MAF but we like to welcome other participants as well!
The FI Refresher Course is written in accordance with FCL.940.FI FI — Revalidation and renewal, which provides the legal framework for the refresher course. After a preparation via e-learning, the course runs for 2 days and is a combination of different formats based on the latest Teaching and Learning theory: blended learning, classroom discussions, small group assignments and practical application. The seminar includes theoretical study provided in an E-learning format that needs to be completed before the start of the seminar. The use of E-learning allows for a blended learning approach, whereby the classroom interaction is not used so much for sharing of theory, but more focused on discussion and application of the theory. Speakers and instructors for the seminar will be selected from a wide network of people as well as the MATC instructor team, based on their relevant experience and knowledge of each topic.
The next FI Refresher Course will be organized in the second half of 2025.
PARTICIPATION
Participants are required to attend for the whole duration of the seminar, participate in all activities and complete necessary assignments. Online participation is only possible if all technical facilities are in place to ensure full engagement with the seminar and other participants is possible.
REFRESHER SEMINAR PROGRAMME
The seminar programme is structured around several main topics, in line with the requirements found in FCL 940. These main topic will remain unchanged, but the actual content will vary with a repetition of the seminar to ensure participants receive new insights and challenges each time they participate.
The main topics are:
- FCL, EASA resources and latest changes
- Training and Learning Theory
- Techniques of Applied Instruction
- Managing Safety of Training (Threat and Error Management)
- Challenges in Training – input by participants
- Application of seminar in a final assignment
- Training with competencies
INVESTMENTS
Participation will costs 1 to 2 days of e-learning (reading, assignments) as well as 2 days class room training.

FORMAL REGULATIONS
For revalidation of an FI certificate, the holder shall fulfil 2 of the following 3 requirements:
- complete the required number of hours of flight instruction as specified in the FCL.
- attend an instructor refresher seminar, within the validity period of the FI certificate;
- pass an assessment of competence in accordance with FCL.935, within the 12 months preceding the expiry date of the FI certificate.
If the FI certificate has lapsed, the applicant shall, within a period of 12 months before renewal:
- attend an instructor refresher seminar;
- pass an assessment of competence in accordance with FCL.935.
